The Philippine Embassy is pleased to have received a fine bottle of the premium rum “Don Papa 10 Years” from André Kerstens B.V. as a holiday present.
One of the best Philippine export products, Don Papa Rum has grown to be among the top three premium rums in the Netherlands since its introduction in the Dutch market in 2015, according to Mr. Olaf Kerstens of Andre Kerstens BV, the rum’s distributor.
Don Papa 10 Years rum is aged for an additional 3 years in which the original ex bourbon American oak barrels are re-charred, resulting in a darker, bolder and richer rum with notes of dried fruits, cacao and a hint of oak.
“It’s the perfect drink to warm up for the winter weather,” Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya said.
Don Papa Rum is produced in the foothills of the active volcano Mount Kanlaon in the island of Negros, the sugarcane capital of the Philippines. It is manufactured by the Bleeding Heart Rum Company and named after Dionisio Magbueles, a.k.a Papa Isio, a sugarcane farmer who played a key role in the late 19th century revolution in freeing the island of Negros from Spanish rule. He also was also among the last Filipino revolutionary leaders to surrender to the Americans.
Don Papa Rum comes in different varieties and ’barrel finishes’ and could be used as mixers for cocktails, ice cream, cakes, desserts, coffee or simply on the rocks.
Don Papa Rum is available at the André Kerstens B.V. shop at Kazernestraat 112 2514 CW, The Hague (tel. no. +31.704.278.321, email address This email address is being protected from spambots.
