The Philippine delegation has actively participated in the annual meeting of the Council on General Affairs and Policy of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH).

Interventions were made by Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya (Head of Delegation), Court of Appeals Justice Angelene Mary Quimpo-Sale and Professor Elizabeth Aguiling-Pangalangan (Adviser/Expert on latest developments in the Philippines’ engagement with the HCCH).

The Philippine Embassy is a firm believer in the usefulness of the HCCH Conventions that have significantly facilitated inter-state legal transactions. These conventions and related guides, which represent the best practices in the field of private international law, have proven to be beneficial particularly to the millions of Filipinos working and residing overseas.

The Philippines is a state party to four HCCH conventions, namely the Intercountry Adoption Convention, Apostille Convention, Service Convention, and the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction Convention. The country also recently signed the Child Support Convention on February 18, 2022, and looks forward to its ratification and entry into force for the country.
