The Embassy is pleased to have received the visit of Mr. Alvin Villareal Smit-Amor of Amor Kitchen who presented their tasty and home-baked cakes, pastries and traditional Filipino bread “pandesal,” which are available in select tokos and Filipino restaurants in The Netherlands.
Amor Kitchen’s pandesal is also being distributed in frozen form to Filipino and Asian stores in Europe by the Beagley Copperman, a leading importer and distributor of Asian food products in the region.
“Ensaymada” (Filipino sweet bread) is one of the favorite Amor Kitchen pastries, which comes in a variety of toppings, including cheese, red velvet, ube, caramel, and cookies and cream.
Other available pastries and rice cakes are “puto” (steamed rice cake), “kutsinta” (glutinous rice cake), Spanish bread, fluffy “mamon” (sponge cake), “hopia” (moon cake), cassava cake, “sapin-sapin” (rice cake), “buko pie” (coconut pie), and “ube” (purple yam). They also offer “palabok” (rice noodles dish topped with pork and shrimp).
Alvin was accompanied during the visit by his partner, Koen Smit-Amor.
With dreams of becoming a pastry chef, Alvin established Amor Kitchen in 2014 and his products are also becoming popular among Dutch customers.
