A commendation was presented to Ms. Diana Oosterbeek-Latoza, Founder and Chaiperson of Bayanihan Stichting (Centrum voor Filippijnse Vrouwen NL) during her visit to the Embassy on 18 March. She was accompanied by Ms. Agnes van Beek-Pavia, a Filipino community leader.
Ms. Oosterbeek-Latoza is a Social Cultural Worker and a recipient of the Banaag Award of the 2012 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas.
Consul General Lolita B. Capco handed the commendation to Ms. Oosterbeek-Latoza in recognition of her long-standing and dedicated service and advocacy for the participation, integration and emancipation of Filipinas in The Netherlands.
Ms. Oosterbeek-Latoza also received a copy of the “Philippines-Netherlands Community Resource List: A Directory of Businesses, Support Services and Related Entities,” which features Stichting Bayanihan as one of the foundations/support services for Filipinos in The Netherlands (https://bit.ly/3fgZx9W).
In partnership with Stichting Bayanihan, the Embassy conducted in December 2021 the online forum “In Defense of Women,” a discussion on Philippine and Dutch laws that aim to protect and combat violence against women.
Established in 1991, Stichting Bayanihan (www.bayanihan.nl) is a self-help women organization providing various forms of assistance and support to all Filipinas in the Netherlands, including guidance and counselling, network and advocacy, research and information dissemination, workshops, trainings and other empowerment programs.
