The Hague PE hosts Forum on the
“Philippines’ 2017 ASEAN Chairmanship’’
02 December 2016. The Philippine Embassy in The Hague, led by Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda in cooperation with The Hague Institute for Global Justice (Hague Institute) led by its Senior Researcher, Dr. Joris Larik organized on 01 December 2016 a forum on "The Philippines' 2017 ASEAN Chairmanship: Priorities, Challenges and Opportunities" at the Institute’s main office in The Hague. Mr. Zaldy Patron, Executive Director of the Office of ASEAN Affairs presented PH’s various thrusts and identified thematic priorities of its ASEAN chairmanship in 2017. The event highlighted the various activities that the Philippines intends to pursue next year as it spearheads the 50th anniversary celebration of the founding of the ASEAN, and how its leadership can steer the organization through the new challenges and opportunities in the region in the years to come. Officials from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ASEAN Embassies based in The Hague and Brussels, ASEAN dialogue partners in The Hague and representatives from the academe and business communities attended the forum contributing to the forum’s insightful interactions and discussions that followed Mr. Patron’s presentation. The event was also organized as an activity of the Philippines’ as chair of the ASEAN Committee in The Hague (ACTH), and to mark as well ACTH’s first year anniversary. END
