08 August 2017 - ASEAN Embassies with residence in The Hague jointly commemorated today the 50th year of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Philippine Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda and spouse Mrs. Gina Ledda together with counterparts and spouses from the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and their respective officers and staff celebrated ASEAN’s golden anniversary with cultural performances by and culinary delights from each ASEAN Embassy. The Embassy of Malaysia in The Hague hosted the day’s momentous event in view of its current Chairship of the ASEAN Committee in The Hague (ACTH). The Philippine Embassy’s all male vocals led by Ambassador Ledda with Consul Zoilo A. Velasco, Legal Officer Edgar Adolfo V. Guibone, Finance Officer Hy-noon M. Galabay, Protocol and Property Officer Manolo O. Sales and Consular Assistant Anacleto T. Diego, Jr. sang “Tagumpay Nating Lahat”, a song that speaks of achievements by being united as one – akin to ASEAN’s raison d’être - a rendition that was greeted with resounding applause by everyone, including Guests of Honor, The Hague City Mayor (Mme) Pauline Krikke and Mr. Peter Potman Director for Asia and Oceanic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The occasion saw also the launch of the official logo of the ASEAN Ladies’ Circle, made up of all female personnel of these five (5) ASEAN Embassies complementing the objectives and tasks of ACTH in the promotion of ASEAN awareness in The Netherlands.
